13 weeks and 4 daysFor many years the Half Marathon weekend has been a major annual event in the calendars of YMCA Runners Club members and local and interstate runners, and the tradition continues.
The event is named in memory of the late Rex Foulkes. Rex was a local distance runner, who tragically died in a road accident returning to Cooma from Canberra after a race in 1970. The first Rex Foulkes Half Marathon was held on 13 September 1970 and had just 24 finishers. In 2017 we had nearly 400 runners.
The course starts and finishes in Nara Park and includes a lap of West Basin, making it one of the more scenic courses around. And the weather in late May is usually great for running.
