Another tough trail, don’t let the distance fool you. Best to be self-sufficient on this race and take a picnic – you may be out there longer than expected.

Starting at Stoney Creek Road, the only way is UP! There are usually a few tears on the first 2km, but once you hit the ridge at Speewah it’s a scenic loop round to the top of the mountain with a rewarding steep descent back down over the iconic Kuranda Railway. Strap your ankles and take a camera for pics of the natural spectators along the track. Not easy but a great course on your backdoor step.

As in previous years, two distances will be offered; 11kms and 18kms.

This event is trail running at its best with challenging inclines, free flowing and technical declines, creek crossings; and almost all through scenic rainforest and eucalypt bush. The tracks follow those used by the First Australians and later European pioneers.
