The Solar Care CITYRUN is a dynamic new running event held simultaneously across Queensland cities promoting the participation of 'all abilities' and encouraging a bit of friendly city rivalry and pride.

An aggregated leaderboard and simultaneous timing will allow participants in each city to 'run for their city' and join in the fun of competing against runners in the other cities.

The core funding objective of CITYRUN is to raise as much funds as possible for the James Cook University RUN for the REEF Research Fund.

To preserve and protect Australia's greatest national treasure, the reef dependant regional cities of Cairns, Mackay and Townsville will compete in a City vs City fun run challenge on 15 September 2017.

Offering three different distances of a 2.5km looped course, all runners in each event will not only be timed individually at their location, but their finishing time will be aggregated across all three participating cities. Therefore, you can be racing in Cairns against your mate in Townsville or Mackay!

Olympic legends Steve Moneghetti (Cairns), Benita Willis (Mackay) and Jess Trengove (Townsville) are taking on the challenge to get their respective cities across the line, to be crowned Solar Care CITYRUN Inaugural Champions 2017.
