NSW > Volcanic ChallengeThe Greater Bank Volcanic Challenge is a fun run event where you can run or walk to the top of Mount Canobolas, near Orange. For the first time this year there is a 5k course as well as the beautiful 11k, so encourage your friends and families to join in! While the 11k course is naturally mostly uphill, only a couple of sections are steep. From the Start near Towac Pinnacle Picnic Grounds (off Pinnacle Rd) you first visit Mt Towac (that’s a steep section but the views make it worth the effort) and then to Young Man Canobolas before the final steep climb to Mt Canobolas. The overall climb is 520m.
The shorter course will start (and finish) at the Towac Pinnacle Picnic Grounds at 09.45am to enable to longer course participants to be transported back to the start to support their families. Views at the halfway point will make the effort worthwhile.
